Brussels, August 1, 2013
For three consecutive days in Brussels and with EU mediation were held the regular meetings of the working group for the implementation of the agreement for the normalization of relations between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia, respectively on security issues. The main topic of these meetings was to discuss the plan of integration of individuals from the Serb community from northern Kosovo who want to integrate into Kosovo Police structures and the continuing consolidation of the Kosovo Police Directorate for the northern part.
Under this agenda our party once again elaborated the legal aspects and regulations in force in Kosovo regarding recruitment of individuals in the Kosovo Police, and subsequently spoke about the criteria and modalities of this possible integration. At these meetings were also discussed the timeframes under the Integration Plan prepared by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, which includes continuing education, namely trainings organized by the Kosovo Police Academy in Vushtrri for new police officers who will be integrated into its ranks. It should be noted that these training are based on advanced quality programs, founded on the most contemporary standards and practices.
The European Union pledged to facilitate this process through EULEX mission, in the framework of its advisory, monitoring and mentoring role.
Our delegation confirmed that all obligations arising from the agreement on the normalization and implementation plan are being met on time and in the right manner. Regarding the consolidation of the Kosovo police directorate in the northern part of Kosovo, our party presented the progress achieved through the issuance of the administrative guidelines and the commitment for further functioning of the regional directorate, clarifying once again that this Regional Directorate will be the same as other regional directorates that Kosovo police has in other parts of Kosovo, it will follow the same chain of command and structure, all based on the law in force for the Kosovo Police.
The delegation of the Republic of Kosovo in these meetings consisted of:
Fisnik Rexhepi, political advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs; Dren Zeka, chief political adviser to Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri; Rashit Qalaj, Deputy Director of the Kosovo Police and Lendita Haxhitasimi, First Secretary of the Embassy of Kosovo in Brussels.
