The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci and the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Blerand Stavileci, visited today the farmer Fazli Berisha, to closely track the progress of the campaign of wheat harvesting wheat, in his plot planted with wheat in Upper Miradi.
The following is the complete statement of the Prime Minister, made on this occasion:
We are here today with the Minister of Agriculture, to watch the progress of this year’s harvest. Now about 70% this season has already ended.
We can freely say that is one of the most successful seasons of harvesting in Kosovo since the war.
The Government of the Republic of Kosovo has subsidized the sector with around 6 million euro this year, 2 million more than last year.
The beneficiaries of these subsidies are about 11 thousand Kosovo farmers. This year there was more arable land with wheat, there has also been an increase in productivity and Kosovo is gradually becoming the granary of the region.
We, as the Government of the Republic of Kosovo will continue to be closer to farmers, to create conditions for better, more convenient and suitable for the job. Therefore, we will continue to communicate with farmers, listen to concerns, worries and problems.
At the same time we will continue to increase each year and state institutional care. I think the best example ëshëtë here, where we are, where yields are extremely high.
Kosovo is a record this year as the region. Stavileci thank the Minister for the good work he has done with farmers throughout Kosovo.
Allow me, also on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, to wish an auspicious and prosperous year to all of Kosovo’s farmers.
