The proclamation of the Constitutional Declaration on July 2, 1990 is among the most important legal events following the dissolution of single-party system in Kosovo in early nineties.
Delegates of the Assembly of Kosovo undertook an important act, expressing the will of the people of Kosovo for freedom and political and legal independency by both Serbian and Yugoslav occupation.
Constitutional Declaration was a civic act of courage and patriotism at a time when Kosovo was not accept its constitutional degradation, suppression of freedoms and rights and the elimination of Albanians from the institutional life.
From the time of the proclamation of the Constitutional Declaration until the final liberation, Kosovo has undergone important historical events, always with a vision freedom and independence.
The will of the citizens of Kosovo will finally crowned with the freedom and independence of our country, and today Kosovo is a sovereign, democratic and internationally recognized by more than 100 countries worldwide.
On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and on my personal behalf, I wish to express to all living delegates, my deepest gratitude and appreciation, while for those who have passed away, we express our utmost consideration for their historical contribution.
