The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Enver Hoxhaj and the Minister of European Integration, Vlora Çitaku held a meeting in London with the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom, William Hague
During this meeting, Prime Minister Thaçi informed the Foreign Secretary about the historic agreement reached between Kosovo and Serbia, and he thanked him for Great Britain’s continual support for the dialogue and in prior phases of consolidating Kosovo’s statehood.
Prime Minister Thaçi added that reaching the agreement is just as important as implementing it within the time frame agreed last month. Foreign Secretary Hague agreed with this approach to the implementation of the agreement.
In addition, Prime Minister Thaçi mentioned that the agreement reached between Kosovo and Serbia will normalize inter-state relations with Serbia, as well as advancing Kosovo’s progress toward integration in the European Union. In this context, Prime Minister Thaçi requested Great Britain’s support for EU approval at the end of this month of the start of negotiations to sign a SAA between Kosovo and the EU.
Prime Minister Thaçi thanked Foreign Secretary Hague for his personal support and that of the British government, to the further advancement of the process of international recognition of Kosovo and Kosovo’s membership in various international and regional bodies.
Prime Minister Thaçi and Foreign Secretary Hague agreed to further intensify already excellent bilateral relations and to increase economic cooperation and British investment in Kosovo.
During the two day visit to London, Prime Minister Thaçi also met with various active members of the All-Party Kosovo Group in the UK Parliament. During a discussion with Lords and Members of Parliament, Prime Minister Thaçi sought their support for Kosovo’s integration as well as strengthening the international position of Kosovo, and deepening bilateral cooperation.
