On behalf of the citizens and of the Government of the Republic of Kosova, Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi thanked President Clinton for his decisive role for Kosovo’s freedom and independence.

In this context, Prime Minister Thaçi underscored that modern history shall remember President Clinton for at least three things: firstly, for the efficient U.S. leadership and the major economical growth during his presidency; secondly, for his decisive role in halting the ethnical cleansing and the genocide in Bosnia and Kosova; and thirdly, for his rare skills in communication and in conveying proper messages not only to the American people but even beyond.

Prime Minister Thaçi informed President Clinton on all achievements so far and the challenges which lie ahead by focusing on the necessity of integration of the Serbian community living in the north of Kosovo in the legitimate institutions of the Republic of Kosovo.

In meeting with Prime Minister Thaçi, President Clinton stated that he feels proud that he made the right decisions at the right time to end the war in Bosnia and in Kosova.

President Clinton underscored that he will continue to maintain his focus in the developments in Kosovo and he will be giving his assistance in addressing challenges awaiting Kosovo by emphasizing Kosova’s need to consolidate its statehood and focus on the economic development and in increasing social welfare.
