Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo met today with Mrs. Elizabeth L. Littlefield, President of Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), a U.S. Government financial institution

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo met today with Mrs. Elizabeth L. Littlefield, President of Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), a U.S. Government financial institution.
 
At this meeting they discussed about ways how OPIC could help encourage private investments of American companies in the Republic of Kosovo by placing a particular emphasis in import substitution.

During this meeting, Prime Minister Thaçi thanked Mrs. Littlefield for the assistance that OPIC has provided to Kosovo in the field of energy and that of micro financial institutions.
 
Prime Minister Thaçi also briefed Mrs. Littlefield on the work of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo in improving business climate and on the various opportunities offered by the Kosovar economy for investments in sectors that could enable import substitution as well as investments in the sectors of energy, road infrastructure and tourism.
 
The President of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, Mrs. Elizabeth Littlefield briefed Prime Minister Thaçi on the projects in the sector of micro financial institutions and that of energy efficiency, which are currently ongoing. She also reaffirmed the support on encouraging American investments in Kosovo by providing funding and through investment insurance of the political risks.
 
In year 2009 the Government of the Republic of Kosovo signed the Agreement on Encouraging Investments with the United States of America.
