Prishtina, 6 April 2012
The DNA analysis identified mortuary remains of four people gone missing since the war of 1998-1999, were handed-over yesterday, April 5 2012, from the relevant institutions of the Republic of Kosovo nearby the border crossing No. 3. Mortuary remains were received by victims’ family members accompanied by representatives of the Government Committee for Missing Persons of the Republic of Serbia.
Today also, on April 6, 2012, starting at 11:00 at the Department of Forensic Medicine mortuary remains of four missing persons will be handed-over which were also analyzed through DNA analysis.
The Government of the Republic of Kosovo is engaged to illuminate the fate of all missing persons, with no regard to ethnicity, religion, gender, etc. Such an engagement we also expect from Serbian state authorities and from the international factor in providing data for all who have gone missing during the war.
The inter-ministerial committee of the Republic of Kosovo for Missing People has filed numerous requests and has provided various evidence of the assumptions and possibilities of the existence of graves in Serbian territory but full research has not yet been performed by the Serbian state. Consequently, ever since year 2006 the official institutions of Kosovo have not received from Serbia any mortuary remains of missing persons.
