Your Excellency, Prime Minister Monti,
It is with deep sadness that we heard the news of the passing away of the former Italian President, Oscar Luigi Scalfaro, a multi-dimensional figure of the Italian politics.
Oscar Luigi Scalfaro was an important democristian politician, a member of the Italian Parliament, minister of Italian governments and an eternal senator, leaving decades long traces in the Italian political scene.
Former President Oscar Luigi Scalfaro was the head of the state during the most important years of Kosovo, 1998-1999, a time during which the Italian diplomacy played an important role in supporting the fair resolution of the Kosovo issue.
On behalf of the government of the Republic of Kosovo and of its citizens, allow us to express the most sincere condolence to you and the Italian people.
