In its 31st meeting, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo allocated 25 million euros for the purchase of sites for diplomatic and consular representation abroad

In opening the meeting, the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, identified the developments of the past week, pointing out the continued recognitions of Kosovo as an independent state, and the ongoing co-ordination of diplomatic efforts with the USA and EU.
 
Prime Minister Thaçi also stressed the commitment of the government in engagement with the countries of the Islamic Conference working to inform them about the reality of Kosovo and for the recognition of this reality by these countries.
 
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior, had prepared criteria for issuing diplomatic and official passports. As the only institution that has the right to issue diplomatic and official passports, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had authorised the decision. The government approved this decision and agreed the Law for the provision of travel documents.
 
The government also approved the request for the allocation of financial resources to the sum of 25 million euros to be used for purchasing buildings for diplomatic and consular representation abroad. It was hoped that this decision would impact positively on the creation of technical and physical conditions for the building of a functional diplomatic service.
 
The proposal of the Ministry of Economy and Finance for seven new members of the Independent Complaints Review Board was also agreed in the meeting.
 
It was also agreed in today’s Government meeting that two hundred thousand euros from the Reserves of the Ministry of Economy and Finance would be transferred to the Programme for the Miners of Trepça. The sums allocated from the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s reserves would be transferred to the budget of the Social Enterprise, “Trepça” under the category of subsidies and transfers.
 
The Government established the Republican Commission for Festivals made up of the Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Public Services, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Administration and Local Government, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the Ministry for Communities and Return, the Ministry of Work and Social Welfare, the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning, the Kosovan Assembly and the Office of the President. This commission will prepare the regulations and approach to celebrating official festivals and memorial days, and by the end of October next year, at the latest, will produce a calendar of official festivals and memorial days for the coming year, based on the Law on Official Holidays in the Republic of Kosovo.
 
A commission made up of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Public Services and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will investigate the Post and Telecommunication of Kosovo’s offer for mobile telephone services for the Government of Kosovo. Within a timescale of two weeks, this commission will offer the Government a concrete proposal in connection with this offer.
 
The government discussed and approved the request for financing the construction of the enclosure of the “Zahir Pajaziti” memorial complex in the village of Orllan in Podujevo municipality.
 
At the meeting two candidates were proposed as members of the Energy Regulators Board. The candidates proposed by the Government will be nominated by the Kosovan Assembly.
 
At the request of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Government included in the Legislative Strategy for 2008 the amendments to the law for Personal Income, the Law on Taxation of Corporate Income and the Excise Law in Kosovo.
 
The Bill for the award of decorations by the President was also approved at the meeting. This bill regulates the award of decorations for citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, foreign citizens as well as members of the judiciary who are distinguished for particular merit in relation to the Republic of Kosovo and the national interest.
