The Government of the Republic of Kosovo notes that, after yesterday’s successful test of burning disulphuric liquid in the zinc electrolysis department oven in Mitrovica, the second test burning of this material was successfully completed today. The experts who have done the necessary maintenance to the oven in question have confirmed that it meets all the technical criteria for the conclusion of this operation. Furthermore, the experts of the contracted company and other experts responsible for measuring the level of pollution in the environment have ascertained that the burning of this substance will not cause collateral damage to the living environment. This fact disproves the suggestions that the chosen location does not meet the technical parameters.
The Kosovo Government again reassures all citizens that the destruction of this material will be carried out in a safe way according to the above process and in the chosen location. The citizens of Mitrovica have the right to express their concerns in a peaceful manner, but endangering the lives of citizens or obstruction of the operation to destroy the disulphuric liquid will not be tolerated.
