Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi had his regular meeting with UNMIK chief, Lamberto Zannier, and discussed with him the current developments in Kosovo and the region.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Thaçi appreciated the new role of the United Nations Organization in Kosovo and in this respect, also of Mr. Lamberto Zannier as UN representative in the service of implementing transition and support for the institutions of Kosovo.
“We have a good cooperation. The institutions of Kosovo have called for and welcomed the new role of the United Nations administration in Kosovo, and I think that we will continue with the cooperation and we acknowledge the work of this administration,” said Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi.
While positively assessing the new engagement by Mr. Zannier to ensure the affirmative enhancement of the position and the role of the minority communities in Kosovo, the Prime Minister said that these are our joint priorities which also directly reflect the will of the people of Kosovo.
“Of course, our commitment is to have larger authority, especially of the EULEX, throughout the territory of Kosovo. Therefore, we are working together in our joint priorities and we will succeed,” said the Prime Minister
UNMIK chief, Lamberto Zannier briefed the Prime Minister on a chain of his activities over the last few days, in particular on the discussions at the Security Council last week on the situation and developments in Kosovo and in this respect he also spoke about his vision with regards to the future role of UNMIK in Kosovo.
Mr. Lamberto Zannier also briefed the Prime Minister on his visit to Belgrade last week and on his meetings and discussions with the high-ranking officials of the Serbian government in Belgrade.
