Prishtina, 24 August, 2022
Dear citizens of the Republic of Kosovo,
Dear journalists,
We just finished the 94th meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, where we approved 24 decisions.
Today, on the Independence Day of Ukraine, we decided to continue the support from the Government for the stay of Ukrainian journalists in the Republic of Kosovo. In addition to housing and allowing journalists to continue reporting, this is a symbolic act of our solidarity with the Ukrainian people. While we are at this conference, Ukrainian flags are flying in the yard of our Government building. It is their independence day and at the same time we also mark the six months of the unjustified, unjustifiable and unprovoked aggression and invasion of the Russian Federation against the state and people of Ukraine.
Our policies are in line with common Euro-Atlantic values. This is our definition, which represents our political identity and our historical orientation.
In line with this, today we established the Executive Commission for the membership of the Republic of Kosovo in the European Union, as an inter-institutional group, which will be responsible for the preparation of the application for membership in the European Union.
In today’s meeting, we reviewed and approved five draft laws on several financial agreements.
We approved two draft regulations: on the Financing of Sending the Security Force Abroad and the one on Competitive Procedures and Admission for Administrative and Support Officers.
In continuation of the protective measures for consumers and economic operators, in terms of regulating the prices of petroleum products, we completed and amended the Administrative Instruction on Price Regulation of Petroleum Products and Renewable Fuels and other Protective Measures.
We took a decision on the obligation of all public institutions to provide access to drinking water within all institutions and public spaces.
We allocated budget funds for the implementation of measure 3.7 of the Economic Recovery Package – Support in overcoming the energy crisis, as well as we approved the decision regarding the commitment previously undertaken by the Government to subsidize consumer tariffs, worth 41 million euros, while the State Advocacy Office, we allocated half a million euros.
In order to strengthen the implementation of the Law on Child Protection, we approved the administrative instructions for the Authorities responsible for realizing the rights of the child; and the Council for the Rights of the Child.
Also, we approved the Concept document for Art and Culture, which will lay the foundations for a stable structure for the unstoppable development of the creative power of our country, reiterating that we have had an extraordinary year in terms of cultural events and the artistic scene in Kosovo.
Details of these decisions were presented at the meeting that just ended.
I thank you for your patience and attention, and I am open to your questions now.
