Prime Minister Kurti’s address at the 106th meeting of the Government

Prishtinë, 9 nëntor 2022

Dear Government Cabinet,
Dear Citizens,

Employment and Justice; it is the platform on which we have competed in front of the citizens and which has become the paradigm of our governance.

Employment through investment and economic growth. Justice through the rule of law and the fight against corruption. One for the other are prerequisites.

We consider the rule of law a programmatic responsibility but also an institutional obligation. We want the rule of law, because we need the rule of law. It’s not a choice. It is an obligation.

Its absence is a threat to everyone.

Our fellow citizens in the four municipalities in the north of our country are mostly facing this threat. The pressure and attacks on them by criminal gangs and individuals are the very evidence of what the lack of rule of law produces.

Their problem is not our decisions. Not even the deadlines provided for in them. 1012 warnings have been issued as of this morning. No incidents noted and no complaints registered. Their problem is the bomb attacks, the burning of cars and houses, pressure and endless threats from those who have a problem with the law.

Those who are ordering the abandonment of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo are those who are hindered by legality and constitutionalism, the fight against criminality and corruption in our country.

We are a responsible government. Of everyone. Against criminals. Dedicated to development, integration, equality for all, respect for human and minority rights and service to citizens without distinction or discrimination.

The Republic of Kosovo is a democratic state of a free people. A committed ally of peace. The reliable partner of its friends.

The rule of law and democracy are the best guarantors of security and peace. They are our shared values and orientation with our partners and friends.

I call once again not to boycott and abandon the institutions. I want to thank our Serbian fellow citizens for the maturity shown in maintaining calm, peace and security
