Prime Minister Kurti Welcomes Mayor of Foça Municipality in Izmir, Saniye Fıçı

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the MP from the Turkish community in Kosovo, Enis Kervan, welcomed the Mayor of Foça Municipality in the Province of Izmir, Saniye Fıçı.

Thanking her for the visit, Prime Minister Kurti welcomed Mayor Fıçı to Pristina, Kosovo. The importance of preserving national identity and institutional support for initiatives to promote Albanian identity in Turkey were the central topics of the meeting. The need and opportunity for the creation and expansion of Albanian language courses in Turkey were addressed, which, in addition to helping preserve the language, would also strengthen the connection with the homeland. In addition to language courses, opportunities for cooperation in organizing cultural events, festivals and university programs were also discussed.

Mayor Fıçı thanked the Prime Minister for his hospitality today, while congratulating him on the results of the February 9 elections. In July last year, during his stay in Turkey, the Prime Minister was welcomed by Mayor Fıçı. She emphasized that Prime Minister Kurti’s visit last year was the highest-level visit they have had.

Saniye Fıçı, of Albanian origin, is the first female Mayor of the Municipality of Foça.
