The meetings during the first day of his stay in Strasbourg, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, continued with representatives from the group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D). The Spanish MEP Iratxe Garcia Perez, at the same time the leader of S&D together with the MEP from Croatia Tonino Picula and the vice president for Foreign Affairs in S&D, Pedro Marques, welcomed Prime Minister Kurti.
MEP Garcia Perez welcomed the positive news regarding the visa liberalization process for Kosovo and the application for membership in the European Union. On behalf of the Group of Social Democrats in the European Parliament, she expressed her readiness to work together in support of Kosovo’s candidacy for membership in the European Union.
Prime Minister Kurti thanked the group of Social Democrats for their support in Kosovo’s journey in the European integration processes and especially in Kosovo’s application for EU membership, who were the first to publicly support it at the time of application.
He added that the priorities of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo are employment and justice, and we are committed to achieving encouraging results in fields and sectors important for the development of the country. International reports and economic indicators in the last two years are evidence of progress and direction towards these two priorities.
Meanwhile, we have strengthened our relations with the EU by further aligning our foreign policy with that of the EU and joining the sanctions imposed on Russia. The Republic of Kosovo, in addition to sanctions against Russia and solidarity with Ukraine, is currently the host country of 11 Ukrainian journalists who are living and working in the country’s capital through the JiR program supported by the Government
