“Thanks to the total investment of over 432,560 euros, these two buildings here in Gjilan are being transformed and will qualitatively improve the lives of 53 families, 8 headed by women heads of household or over 210 residents of Gjilan. This is part of a larger investment, of over 6 million euros for the renovation of 25 social buildings throughout Kosovo, which is co-financed by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the European Union, with 10% municipal participation”, said Prime Minister Kurti.

He added that we are not only building strong walls, but we are also building dignity for families, security and hope for hundreds of citizens everywhere and in particular we focus on energy saving, which is not only a technical and vital issue, but also of social justice, it is an economic and environmental issue.

The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, said that the buildings they are visiting today are just some of the investments in energy efficiency, which have been made by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, some of them with the support of donors. She said that, in addition to the two buildings being visited in Gjilan today, around 1 million euros have been invested in the renovation of five public buildings, including three schools.

The Mayor of Gjilan, Alban Hyseni, said that, on this important day, we are making the second visit, in addition to those in affordable and social housing buildings, while he also mentioned investments in energy efficiency, but also the start of the implementation of the “Flows” project for investments in water supply, which is a project worth 15 million euros, and which comes as an investment by the Government of Kosovo.

In other investments that have been made within the framework of the energy efficiency reform, the Government has so far supported 3 thousand families with home insulation, over 40 thousand families with efficient equipment and solar panels, as well as 125 public buildings, mainly schools and hospitals, have been renovated to improve the living and working conditions for hundreds of thousands of citizens.

Full Speech by Prime Minister Kurti:

We are here with the Mayor of Gjilan, Alban Hyseni, and the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, in Gjilan to see the works that are going well, as was shown to us, for the renovation of social housing, which were built since 2005, but did not have dignified living conditions inside.

Thanks to a total investment of over 432,560 euros, these two buildings here in Gjilan are being transformed and will qualitatively improve the lives of 53 families, 8 headed by women heads of household or over 210 residents of Gjilan.

This is part of a larger investment of over 6 million euros for the renovation of 25 social buildings throughout Kosovo, which is co-financed by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the European Union, with a 10% municipal participation.

We are not only building strong walls, but we are also building dignity for families, security and hope for hundreds of citizens everywhere and in particular we focus on energy saving, which is not only a technical and vital issue, but also a social justice, economic and environmental issue.

The most extensive efficiency reform has been such that we have supported 3 thousand families with home insulation and over 40 thousand families with efficiency equipment and solar panels. 125 public buildings have been renovated, mainly schools and hospitals, in addition to private housing, and bills have been reduced and living conditions have improved for hundreds of thousands of citizens.

From the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund and from Minister Rizvanolli I learned that up to 80% will be energy saving in this building that we visited. External insulation, thermal insulation has been done, there will be a main entrance with an intercom and and the roof has been repaired, in addition to the replacement of windows.

The two buildings that were built here in 2005 are such that in one there are 25 families, and in the other there are 28 families. So, 28 and 25, 53 in total, in which case, one has a surface area of nearly 1900 square meters, while the other over 1400 square meters. So, these are very important buildings for the lives of these families, who although they had a roof over their heads, did not have a dignified life under the roof and this is now being implemented.

Once again, thank you very much to the ministry and Gjilan.
