In Kamenica, the foundation stone of the “Fan S. Noli” Lower Secondary School was laid today. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, together with the Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, accompanied by the mayor of the Municipality of Kamenica, Kadri Rahimaj, and in the presence of teachers and students were part of the ceremony organized on this occasion.
In front of them, he said that the commemoration of the anniversary of the death of the Renaissance man, Fan S. Noli, through the name of the school, is a significant symbol and a commitment to continue the path of knowledge.
“We are laying this foundation stone in March. March reminds us of the opening of the school in Korçë, in 1887, which turned into an archetypal school, a landmark name for Albanian schools and teachers. Therefore, every March, we remember the efforts and sacrifices of teachers for teaching, for schools and the education system”, said the Prime Minister.
He added that the role and potential of education are indisputable and decisive factors for the development of the country and that this is the reason why we have increased the education budget by over 26% in the last two years and made higher education free.
The new Primary and Lower Secondary School in Kamenica will have a gross area of 4,500 m2, with 20 classrooms, 5 classrooms, 1 library, and a modern canteen for eating and adequate sports space. Funded by the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, the value of the new school project is 1.7 million euros.
During his stay in Kamenica, Prime Minister Kurti previously held a meeting with the Mayor of this municipality, Kadri Rahimaj and his team, where he was informed about the work done so far, the projects that are being implemented and that are planned in the future. He offered his support and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo in the realization of the plans of the municipality, in the service of its development and the well-being of the citizens.

Dear directors of the municipality and members of the Municipal Assembly,
Dear school director and other staff of this school, whose foundation stone we are laying today,
Dear citizens of Kamenica,
Ladies and gentlemen, sisters and brothers,
It is a pleasure that we are meeting, on this beautiful day, and we are laying the foundations of a new school. This school honors the memory of the writer and the great activity of the national issue, one of the most prominent revivalists, Fan Noli, whose name the school bears.
We are meeting precisely on the 58th anniversary of the extinction of this revivalist. His commemoration, through the name of the school, is symbolic with great significance. It is a commitment to continue the path of knowledge and education.
The project of this Lower Secondary Primary School in Kamenica is that of a modern school. It will have a gross area of 4,500 m2, with 20 classrooms, five cabinets, a library, and a modern canteen for dining and adequate sports facilities. After several years of schooling in unsuitable conditions, the students of Kamenica will have a school that meets the conditions for their growth and development.

And our institutions must be responsible to raise the quality of schools to the most sublime place. Where the conscience is founded and where the noblest profession is practiced.

With institutional responsibility and collective commitment, let’s engage and work for a society that is progressive. This is what the ideals of our activists and martyrs tell us. Our children’s dreams also ask us for this.
