The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Minister of Defense, Armend Mehaj and the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Taulant Kelmendi, visited the “Young Europeans” barracks in Pomozotin and the “Minatori” barracks in Mitrovica. There, KSF instructors are lecturing for upper secondary students, on topics that are included in the syllabus of the “Safety Education” course.
The setting up tents, the use of ropes and orientation in nature were the topics that were addressed today in theoretical and practical aspects by the lecturers of the International Search and Rescue Center in Pomoza and the barracks in Mitrovica. Upon completion of this cycle of lectures, young people who have attended these trainings will be able to help others in emergency situations and in cases of natural disasters.
Prime Minister Kurti said that he hopes that many of these young people, but also others who will come after them, will take “Safety Education” as an optional subject in schools.
This program is expected from September to take place in 8 barracks in the cities of Kosovo and with 2100 participating students.
The Prime Minister had the opportunity to see the lectures and trainings up close and to talk with the lecturers, instructors and students who are attending these lessons.
We remember that yesterday, he visited the “Skënderbeu” KSF barracks in Ferizaj, where groups of students were giving a lecture on “General knowledge about security institutions”.
The Government of the Republic of Kosovo in its Government program 2021-2025 has foreseen the development of the educational program for the youth of the Republic of Kosovo in the field of defense and security.
The “Education for Security” program is a program that aims to educate and train high school students in the Republic of Kosovo, in the field of defense and security.
This project is being carried out in close cooperation between the Ministry of Defense, the Security Force, the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation and the Municipal Directorates of Education, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Kosovo Police and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
