The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, held a telephone conversation with Senators Chris Murphy, Jeanne Shaheen and Pete Ricketts.
The prime minister thanked the senators for the phone call and for their voice and commitment in the senate in support of the state of Kosovo and its citizens.
They talked about the situation in the country and the developments after the elections in the four municipalities in the north of Kosovo. The Prime Minister emphasized that we had an election process recognized by the international community and that it is important that the elected presidents can work in their workplaces.
The violent crowd contributed to the escalation of the situation on Monday, where the Kosovo Police were attacked, KFOR soldiers and journalists were injured. Armed and violent people, members of criminal groups led by Serbia, who are interested in destabilization.
The Prime Minister assured the senators that he is fully committed to calming the situation and that the way forward is to respect the constitutional and legal processes, dialogue and full and unconditional implementation of the Basic Agreement reached in Brussels and its annex in Ohrid.
