Prime Minister Kurti organized the end of the year reception for media representatives

December 27, 2023

After the Government meeting and the regular media conference, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with members of the Government cabinet, organized the end of the year reception for the media teams, journalists who have followed the work of the Government throughout the year and that have reported from the four municipalities in the north of the country.

The full speech of Prime Minister Kurti:

Dear journalists, cameramen and media workers,
Dear members of the government cabinet,

I welcome you to this end of the year meeting. In addition to making a summary of what this year has been, it is also an opportunity to meet a little more relaxed in an environment different from the work momentum, and to have friendly conversations with each other.

This year, in addition to being successful, has also been challenging for all of us. For you, for us, and for the citizens of the Republic. And a special thanks to the field journalists, cameramen and support teams, who have reported from the field even in difficult situations, especially in the north of our country.

It has not been easy for us as the Government either, but we have continued our work with maximum commitment to strengthen the security aspect, and we have moved forward with new achievements, now that we have passed 2/3 of the governing mandate.

Perhaps you are thinking of some criticism or suggestion, which are always welcome. What I often hear is “why aren’t you appearing in interviews more often”. We are doing our best to be present everywhere, even in your studios, when we can in the shows, but the work is going on at a high pace, and often we cannot do something like this. But, as the prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo, I have been very interested during these three years, so that as many ministers are at the forefront of their duties as possible, and I, as the prime minister, am the first of the ministers to complement rather than replace them.
The opposition, on the other hand, has a lot of free time, while I’m hearing that they don’t appear that often on shows either, and maybe it’s worth studying what they do in their free time.

At last year’s reception, some of you were not present because you were on duty north of Ibri. I am glad that today we are together with the journalists who reported from there.

Before your arrival here, we learned the sad news of the early death of your colleague, Arton Turkaj. There are many of his satirical comments, which I have seen and which we will miss. We will miss Artoni. Condolences to the families of each and every one of you. Condolences to all of you, and from all of us.

At this end of the year, as we reflect on the year we are leaving behind, let us cherish each other’s presence, and let us take care of each other as much as possible in the new year.

The year 2024 will follow us with the same volume of work. We wish and work for as many new successes as possible, and development and progress for the country and for our citizens. Meanwhile, I wish you good work in your mission so important for democracy, correct and fast information.

Thank you for the work you continue to do in public service.
Happy 2024!
