The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff, Luan Dalipi, received in his office the Permanent Representatives of the QUINT countries to the OSCE and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Kosovo, Nicholas Abbott.
They discussed the cooperation between the Republic of Kosovo and the QUINT states within the scope of the OSCE and how this cooperation can be deepened during the second half of the governing mandate. The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the role and contribution of the OSCE and the continuous support they have given to the institutions of the Republic.
He informed the ambassadors about the latest developments in the country and about the government’s work and achievements in the field of the rule of law, about the reforms undertaken, the economic and democratic progress that has been evidenced in international reports, including that of the European Union.
Kosovo is a double story of success, underlined Prime Minister Kurti. With the positive trend of economic growth in the last two years and the improvement for 20 positions in the Transparency International Corruption Index, for 17 positions in the Reporters Without Borders index for press freedom and ranking in first place for the second time in a row in the Balkans Western in terms of the rule of law according to the World Justice Project, Kosovo is proving that economic development and quality democracy go hand in hand, he said. Also, the ambassadors were informed about social policies, such as free public education, allowances for mothers and children, and employment measures within the Economic Revival Package.
The meeting also discussed the relations between Kosovo and Serbia and the European proposal, which Prime Minister Kurti said is acceptable as a good basis for further discussions and a solid platform to move forward.
The ambassadors appreciated the positive changes in the country and the Government’s commitment to reforms. At the same time, they confirmed their countries’ support to Kosovo.
QUINT Ambassadors to the OSCE are Michael Carpenter, Permanent Representative of the USA, Christine Fages, Permanent Representative of France, Gesa Braeutigam, Permanent Representative of Germany, Stefano Baldi, Permanent Representative of Italy and Neil Bush, Representative Permanent United Kingdom.
