The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, during the day met participants of the regional conference “The situation of the rights of the LGBTIQ+ community in the Western Balkans and Turkey”, organized by the Center for the Development of Social Groups, CSGD and the Center for Equality and Freedom, CEL and which is being held in Pristina.

He thanked the participating organizations for the commitment, work and activism they do in their efforts for justice and as strong believers in human rights.

“We are all different, diversity and difference is the state of being or existing in a society. Precisely because we are different, we can and must be equal”, said Prime Minister Kurti.

He added that politics should more often emphasize beliefs about human rights, diversity, solidarity and equality, and that actions, laws, policies and strategies are derived from this fundamental attitude.

The law on the civil code, which is in process and will be returned to the parliament, was also mentioned, as well as the action plan, which is expected to be completed in the first months of next year. He also emphasized the fruitful cooperation of his office with organizations and activists from the LGBTQ community.

“Get together, say what you think and who you are, work and fight.” concluded Prime Minister Kurti.
