Prime Minister Kurti is hosted by the Prime Minister of Estonia, Kaja Kallas

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, started his official visit to Estonia today, where he was hosted by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia, Kaja Kallas for a bilateral meeting.

The very good relations, the advancement of cooperation in various fields, with an emphasis on digital governance and the positions of the two governments on the developments and security of the European continent after the Russian aggression against Ukraine, were a central part of the discussion at the meeting.

Prime Minister Kurti expressed his gratitude for the hospitality, appreciation for the continuous support that Estonia gives to Kosovo throughout all stages of its development and readiness for deepening economic and commercial cooperation. He said that in addition to excellent bilateral relations, Kosovo and Estonia also have similar historical pasts.
Therefore, Kosovo sees Estonia as a model in many aspects, and especially in the field of public administration reform through digitalization of services, the Prime Minister further stated.

The Government of Kosovo has already established cooperation relations with the Estonian Academy of E-Government (eGA). As a result, experts from Estonia are helping Kosovo in drafting the new E-Governance strategy, which will serve as a guide for digital transformation. Prime Minister Kurti also informed Prime Minister Kallas about the progress achieved and the reforms undertaken during the government so far and emphasized that the improvements in democratic indicators in the country and positive economic performance during the past year and this year have proven that democracy and economic development can go side by side.

Welcoming them to the Estonian capital, Estonian Prime Minister Kallas offered full support for Kosovo on its Euro-Atlantic path and visa liberalization process. The relations between the two countries have been very good and I am happy that they are developing even further, said Prime Minister Kallas. She also expressed gratitude for Kosovo’s stance in relation to the aggression of the Russian Federation and for the help it has offered to the Ukrainian people.

Prime Minister Kurti and Prime Minister Kallas also discussed the consequences and dangers of Russian aggression against Ukraine and Russia’s destabilizing influence in the Western Balkans region. The Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Estonia stand together against Russian aggression and in solidarity with the Ukrainian state and people.

After the meeting, the two heads of government held a joint press conference.

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Emilija Rexhepi, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku, the non-resident ambassador of Kosovo in Estonia, Shkëndije Geci – Sherifi and adviser of the prime minister, Lulëzon Jagxhiu are part of the delegation of the Republic of Kosovo, who are accompanying Prime Minister Kurti on this official visit.
