The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, hosted Ms. Ariane Bauer, the regional director for Europe and Central Asia of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
Prime Minister Kurti reiterated that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo gives priority to the issue of persons forcibly disappeared during the war in Kosovo, respecting the right of family members to know the truth about their loved ones.
It was said that the lack of reliable information from Serbia about the fate and location of the forcibly disappeared persons, as well as the non-cooperation of Serbia, constitute major obstacles in clarifying the fate of the disappeared persons.
Prime Minister Kurti highlighted the importance of opening the state archives of Serbia, since forced disappearances during the war were crimes committed by the Serbian state.
In the joint meeting with the Chairman of the Government Commission for Missing Persons, Andin Hoti, the joint commitment and continuous support from the International Committee of the Red Cross was appreciated. They also discussed the possibilities to further strengthen cooperation with the common goal of clarifying the fate and location of persons forcibly disappeared during the war in Kosovo.
