Prime Minister Kurti hosted the ambassador of France, Mr. Olivier GUÉROT

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, welcomed the Ambassador of France, Mr. Olivier Guérot, and expressed his willingness to support both the close relationship with the French Embassy and the close cooperation with France, with the will for further expansion and strengthening .

Thanking him for the reception, Ambassador Guérot reaffirmed the position of the Presidency and the French Government for increased engagement and a more active role in the Western Balkans in general, and in Kosovo in particular.

Prime Minister Kurti expressed gratitude for President Macron’s commitment, expressed in June, to close the long-standing issue of visa liberalization for Kosovo. He praised the renewed Franco-German involvement in the region, for the Berlin process and for resolving the dialogue with Serbia, stressing that Kosovo remains committed and constructive in these processes.

During the meeting, the willingness of both countries to have more presence of France in Kosovo, including French investors, was reconfirmed, emphasizing the potential of DIASPORA from Kosovo. In this regard, the Prime Minister emphasized that we welcome the involvement of the French Development Agency, as an important actor.

Appreciating the diversity of bilateral cooperation, there was a specific discussion about the cooperation between the relevant ministries of justice, the many activities related to culture and sports, but also the general cooperation in public diplomacy. The scientific cooperation in the France-Kosovo archaeological mission was also singled out, as well as the initiative of last June with the mayors of the municipalities, which looks promising in terms of twinning and future bridges between our municipalities and states.
