The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosova, Albin Kurti, remembered the sacrifice of the American soldiers and their families, in the meeting with the Albanian-American Besa Tafilaj Pinchotti, Executive Director of the National Military Family Association. In particular, the two Apache helicopter pilots, officers David A. Gibbs and Kevin L. Reichert were mentioned, who lost their lives in Albania in 1999, during support operations for the NATO intervention in Kosovo.
In the meeting it was discussed about the Government’s commitment to security, and the excellent cooperation with the United States of America.
The increase in the budget of the defense sector, the highest that Kosova has ever had, was emphasized, as well as the commitment to develop a professional and agile military force in accordance with NATO doctrine and standards.
Mrs. Tafilaj Pinchotti spoke about the mission and activities of the National Military Family Association, founded in 1969, which represents millions of members of military families in the United States, through advocacy and supporting programs. Mrs. Tafilaj Pinchotti, whose father comes from Deçan, recalled the time when she reported on the war and the post-war period of Kosovo as a journalist on ABC and NBC television networks.
