Prishtina, 18 December 2023

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, today held a meeting with the Montenegrin community, together with the Deputy Prime Minister Emilija Rexhepi. Participants in the meeting were the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Lazar Radulović and Denis Ivic from the Consultative Council for Communities under the Presidency, together with the Ambassador of Montenegro to Kosovo, Bernard Çobaj.

It was discussed about the support to the non-majority community this year, including the additional grants of 3 million euros that were allocated by the Ministry for Communities and Returns, where Montenegrin NGOs have also benefited, but also the positive changes in the implementation of the Law for the use of languages and for the development of the roads that connect the state of Kosovo with that of Montenegro – between Deçan and Plava, and between Peja and Rozhaja.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the population census that will be held in April next year. In this census, for the first time, each house was given the right to have a census taker from its own community, so as not to feel any pressure to declare otherwise.

The participants have positively evaluated the opportunity to talk about these issues and to work together in the face of common challenges.
