Prime Minister Kurti commemorated the martyr of freedom, Elfete Humolli, on the 34th anniversary of her fall

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, today paid homage to the life and work of the nation’s martyr, Elfete Humolli, on the occasion of marking the 34th anniversary of her death.

Only two weeks from her birthday, Elfete Humolli, not yet 17 years old, fell a martyr of freedom, killed by Serbian enemy forces, in the direction of the demonstrators who were with Elfete demonstrating for the freedom of Kosovo, for the liberation of the country.

Located next to the Lapidary of the two martyrs of the nation, Elfete and her brother, Mentor, in the Memorial Complex in Lupç te Poshtem, Prime Minister Kurti in commemoration of all the heroes and martyrs of the nation said that “Elfete, Mentor and all the martyrs of to the nation, the hours of our history testify to us, they testify to us how dearly the freedom of the people and the liberation of Kosovo was paid”.

He pointed out that today in these tributes they are together with students who are Elfete’s age when she fell in the demonstration. Students who today study in free Kosovo, in our increasingly advanced country and who will contribute to society, the nation and the state as well as the economy, culture and other areas of life.

“So, Kosovo today rejoices in its youth and children, precisely because in the foundations of this Kosovo there is both the blood of the martyrs and the sweat of the workers from the past whom we value, express our deep gratitude and loyalty towards them, we are moving towards a bright future,” said Prime Minister Kurti.

After the tributes at the grave of the heroine Humolli, Prime Minister Kurti also honored her martyred brother, Mentor, who was killed on May 21, 1999, and this year will mark the 25th anniversary of his death as a fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

During these tributes, Prime Minister Kurti was together with the ambassador of Albania in Kosovo, Petrit Malaj, colleagues from the Government, members of the Assembly, activists of the national issue and the extended Humolli family.

Together with colleagues from the Government, with members of the Assembly, with activists of the national issue and with the extended Humolli family, we are here today at the Lapidary which is dedicated to the two martyrs of the nation, Elfete and Mentor, who gave their lives for our freedom, and for the liberation of the country.

Today we mark the 34th anniversary of the demonstration in which the student Elfete Humolli was killed by Serbian enemy forces, not yet 17 years old. Meanwhile, her brother Mentor is killed after 9 years and on May 21 this year we will mark the 25th anniversary of his heroic fall as a fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

Elfetja, Mentor and all the nation’s martyrs, the hours of our history testify to us, they testify to us how dearly the freedom of the people and the liberation of Kosovo was paid.

However, here today we are together with the students who were Elfete’s age when she fell in the demonstration, and who today learn in our increasingly advanced country and will contribute to society, the nation, and the state with the lessons they also do the following jobs in the various professions that you need for them, and they need it for the economy, culture and other areas of life.

So, Kosovo today rejoices in its youth and children, precisely because in the foundations of this Kosovo there is both the blood of the martyrs and the sweat of the workers from the past whom we value, express our deep gratitude and loyalty to them we walk towards the bright future.
