The Deputy Prime Minister for Minority Affairs and Human Rights, Emilija Redžepi, held a conference dedicated to the problems and challenges of Roma community in Kosovo.
In solidarity with the Roma community effort, she said that they provide unique institutional support to Roma language implementation in the Municipality of Prizren.
In this conference, Deputy Prime Minister Redžepi said that the Government is working to eliminate prejudice and discrimination. “They did this through different policies, such as Roma and Ashkali communities integration strategy and other policies, aiming in improving Roma position”, she said, adding that the employment of the Roma community is a priority for our government.
Deputy Prime Minister Redžepi strongly supported the request for Roma language recognition in official use in the Municipality of Prizren and also encouraged the local institutions to approve this request of Roma community.
Representatives from the Municipality of Prizren, members of civil society from the Roma community, international organizations and embassies participated in this conference, where education, employment and existential issues of this community were also discussed.
