The first Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Development and Dialogue of the Republic of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, welcomed in their first official meeting, the new ambassador of the United Kingdom, Jonathan Hargreaves.
The ambassador underlined that it is a pleasure and a privilege to serve in this position and contribute to strengthening the relations between our two countries. He recalled the last time in 2001 when he was in Kosovo, evidencing how impressive is the progress and rapid development that the country has known, as well as the consolidated democracy.
For his part, Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi welcomed Ambassador Hargreaves to Kosovo, congratulating him on his new task and offering close cooperation. Expressing gratitude for the ambassador’s message at the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi added that our country is headed in a positive trajectory of development, where we have made progress, beyond the barriers we have faced.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the economic development and investment opportunities in the country, where the deputy prime minister also spoke about the policies and objectives of the government, as well as the willingness to strengthen cooperation in various fields of common interest.
Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi singled out our diaspora in the United Kingdom, which also serves as a connecting bridge. Likewise, Ambassador Hargreaves congratulated the Government on the recent signing of the memorandum of understanding in London with the EBRD, worth 400 million euros.
In this meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi informed the ambassador about the latest developments in the country as well as the dialogue process. Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi thanked the ambassador for the fruitful and productive conversation and the continuous support of the United Kingdom to the Republic of Kosovo.
