The visit to Brussels of the first deputy prime minister for European Integration, Development and Dialogue of the Republic of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, continued with the presentation of the European perspective of Kosovo and the current situation at the “European Policy Center”, in the discussion on the topic “Kosovo’s Road to the EU -‘s: How to overcome the impasse?”.
In his speech, Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi emphasized that European integration is a top priority for the Government. The achievement of visa liberalization, the application for membership in the Council of Europe and the application for membership in the EU gave the signal last year for the importance and special attention to the European journey. Through the progress witnessed especially in the economic and rule of law indicators, we have shown the Government’s readiness for important steps towards EU integration.
Beyond the obstacles and barriers, our country recognized economic growth and development, creation of new jobs, worked on the formalization of the economy, on laws that target the fight against corruption and on the anti-corruption strategy. So employment and justice was the response of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to advance the European agenda.
Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi highly appreciated the initiative of the EU Commission for the new expansion plan presented by the President of the Commission, Mrs. Von Der Leyen, as well as the expectations of the EU Council, represented by the President of the Council, Mr. Michel, for the expansion to be achieved by 2030. He emphasized that the European integration process should be based on meritocracy and offer equal instruments to all states.
Regarding the current situation, he emphasized that the September 24 attack was an act of aggression, designed, supported and orchestrated by Serbia. This is already clearly proven by the many facts, from the presence and organization of the aggression by Milan Radojçiq, the presence of the bodyguard of the head of the BIA, Vulin, to the tool found and confiscated in the ownership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia, the certificate given by the Serbian army for equipment with heavy weapons, harboring terrorists in Serbia and glorifying them. The objective was clear: violation of territorial integrity, sovereignty of the Republic of Kosovo and attempt to destabilize our country and the region.
Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi informed the participants about the dialogue process and the last high-level meeting held on September 14. In conclusion, he thanked the organizers for the opportunity and the fruitful conversation.
