During his stay in the Netherlands, the first deputy prime minister for European Integration, Development and Dialogue of the Republic of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, held a conversation with international relations students at Leiden University in The Hague and young diplomats.
In his speech, Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi spoke about the development of Kosovo and the socio-economic progress that the country has known, especially during the last 2 years.
Beyond the barriers that the country has faced, Kosovo has shown its potential for development. Special attention has been paid to sustainable growth and fair and equal distribution to citizens. Kosovo’s development was also reflected in the rankings of international indexes.
As for European integration, he spoke about the broad support of citizens towards membership in the European family. It is important to reinforce the message that Kosovo, through its mature and prepared institutions, is ready to take further steps in this process.
“The European Union is our vision, destiny and destination,” said Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi.
The signal given by the reports compiled for Kosovo, such as that of the European Commission itself, which proved the success of our country, can be used as a measuring criterion to show that Kosovo deserves the status of a candidate country.
Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi also spoke about the background of the dialogue process with Serbia and the Basic Agreement reached this year. He said the agreement must be implemented in full, without delay and without conditions, through a fair, balanced and comprehensive sequencing plan.
In conclusion, he thanked the students and Leiden University for the opportunity and the fruitful conversation that took place.
