The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, participated today in the opening of the Parasports Games “Kosova 2023”, organized by the Kosovo Paralympic Committee (KPK), which was held at the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety in Vushtrri.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Kurti said that the KPK has reaped undeniable successes that help sports, help people with disabilities and affirm Kosovo in the international arena.
As he greeted all those present, the prime minister especially thanked the guests who came from Croatia, North Macedonia and Montenegro.
“So let’s watch matches within the framework of what is planned and prepared for today, let’s have fun together and as much as possible let’s socialize in order to support and help each other and of course most of all those people who they have special needs or disabilities'”, said the Prime Minister.
He congratulated and expressed congratulations for the work, commitment and contribution that the Paralympic Committee of Kosovo is making.
This year, the Parasports Games will include 13 sports disciplines in total.
Financial support for the Kosovo Paralympic Committee has increased by over 500%. From the 15 thousand euros it had until 2020, for the years 2022 and 2023 the KPK has a budget of 100 thousand euros per year.
The Paralympic Committee of Kosovo has already become a full member of the European Paralympic Committee. During the following days, throughout this month, full membership in the International Paralympic Committee is expected.
During the next year, in Paris 2024, Kosovo will mark its first participation in the Paralympic Games.
In addition to the regular support planned for the KPK for 2024, MKRS is preparing a special support for the Kosovo Paralympic Committee for the preparation of these athletes and for participation in Paris 2024.

I thank you very much for the invitation today and I congratulate you for this organization and the successes you are showing in terms of membership in international organizations. Now the Paralympic Committee has undoubtedly reaped undeniable successes that help sports, help people with disabilities and affirm the state of Kosovo in the international arena.
I also thank Deputy Prime Minister Rexhepi, KFOR Commander Ristuccia, French Ambassador Gero, Deputy Ministers Daulina Osmani and Bardhyl Dobra, but also the guests who came to us from Croatia, North Macedonia and Montenegro. So let’s watch matches within the framework of what is planned and prepared for today, let’s have fun together and let’s socialize as much as possible in order to support and help each other and of course most of all those people who are with special needs or disabilities.
