Today, 33 years ago, Bosniaks and Albanians faced a similar fate, fueled by the appetites of a Greater Serbia led by Milosevic and the Serbian Academy.
In the territory of Sanxhak, where even today the collective memory of the similar fate of Albanians and Bosniaks is felt and preserved, courage and determination were required for political undertakings. The SDA of that time would be at the front of this issue, both in Bosnia and abroad. SDA would be the movement that established the cells of today’s Bosnian state, the crystallization of national identity as well as political pluralism inside and outside Bosnia.
Even today, Serbia denies the committed genocides, and will not even care about the first letter of Sandzhak. It systematically leads to the underdevelopment of the regions inhabited by members of minorities, such as the Preševo Valley and Sanxhak, while it says that others are working to expel the Serbs. It does not extend their rights, but points the finger at us for discrimination. In other words: in a trajectory of 33 years, we are facing a Serbia that does not change.
