St. Stefan, 22 October 2026
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, met with Austrian Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker on the sidelines of the Berlin Process Leaders’ Summit, being held in St. Stefan, Montenegro.
Prime Minister Kurti and Chancellor Stocker discussed further progress in bilateral relations.
“We discussed concrete opportunities for economic cooperation in energy, railways and digital technology, a sector in which Austrian companies and our diaspora are investing increasingly,” Prime Minister Kurti said.
Prime Minister Kurti said that, four months ago, he and Chancellor Stocker had discussed two concrete steps: integration into SEPA and joining the EU roaming area. Regarding the first, Kosovo has now fulfilled the final condition by adopting all the necessary laws, while negotiations on the second are expected to begin soon.
“I support Chancellor Stocker’s statement that the European Union is not complete, secure or sustainable without the Western Balkans, and that all candidate countries must be treated equally, under the same conditions. On the basis of merit, the Republic of Kosovo is ready to advance on its European path, obtain candidate country status and open accession negotiations,” Prime Minister Kurti said.
