The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by Acting Minister of Economy Artane Rizvanolli and other institutional representatives, attended the inauguration of energy efficiency investments at the Social Work Centre in the Municipality of Viti.
With a total investment of €139,000, the Prime Minister said that the Centre’s annual energy consumption will be reduced by approximately 74 percent.
“We have a revolving scheme whereby the Government finances the investment, the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund implements it, while the municipality gradually repays the amount from savings on energy bills. In this way, the municipal budget is not burdened with additional costs, and the funds repaid are used again to renovate other facilities,” said Prime Minister Kurti.
Assessing the importance of Social Work Centres, he said that investment in them is part of the vision of moving beyond traditional social policy schemes.

We are here together at the Social Work Centre in Viti, with the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, as well as the Director of the Social Work Centre, Sylë Salihu, the Director of the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund, Njomza Hoxha, and the staff of this Centre, who work tirelessly in the service of the citizens of Viti.
The Social Work Centre is the place where the citizen meets the state, where a child must be protected, where an elderly person or a person with special needs may be unable to manage on their own and needs assistance, or where an entire family may need support.
The quality of services naturally also depends on the working conditions of the people who work at this Centre. Therefore, we are taking care to support them through energy efficiency measures. They now have a new 90-kilowatt central-heating boiler, and improvements have also been made to lighting, air quality and appropriate temperatures through the replacement of windows and the façade.
This is also part of our vision of moving beyond traditional social policy schemes. As you know, support for 400,000 children and 80,000 new mothers, that is, women on maternity leave, as well as the increase in basic pensions from €90 to €150, which has benefited around 200,000 elderly people, are evidence of this new approach of ours, in which social policy is considered a matter of justice for which the state has a responsibility and from which the population benefits.
Through this investment in the Social Work Centre, annual energy consumption will be reduced by approximately 74 percent, while the total investment in the renovation of the building amounts to €139,000.
