Acting Prime Minister Kurti Visited the Works at the “Adriana” Theatre in Ferizaj

Ferizaj, 14 May 2026

The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Acting Minister of Culture and Tourism, Saranda Bogujevci, as well as the Acting Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Nora Arapi Krasniqi, visited the “Adriana” Theatre in Ferizaj today to closely inspect the ongoing works for the comprehensive restoration of this theatre.

On this occasion, Acting Prime Minister Kurti stated that this theatre is an icon of the city and at the same time an asset of cultural heritage. As he noted, the Theatre Festival, Film Festival, the music and song festival “Kosovarja Këndon,” as well as the Children’s Song Festival, have all been held at this theatre.

The total value of this investment by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism is nearly 1 million and 163 thousand euros, and the works are expected to be completed within two years.

Statement by Acting Prime Minister Kurti:

Dear attendees,

We are here together with the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Saranda Bogujevci, her deputy, Nora Arapi Krasniqi, and the economic operator, to witness the beginning of the works at the “Adriana” Theatre here in Ferizaj — a theatre that bears the name of an actress from this city who was brutally killed in a terrorist attack by Serbian enemy forces two days before the start of the NATO bombings in the spring of 1999, and in her honor, this theatre now carries the name “Adriana.”

Here, as we all know because we have come here very often, the Theatre Festival was held, as well as the Film Festival, the music and song festival “Kosovarja Këndon,” and also the Children’s Song Festival. Therefore, it is an icon of the city and at the same time an asset of cultural heritage.

I am pleased that the works have begun with great momentum and that we will have restoration both inside and outside, including the roof, the main hall, and the courtyard, since the courtyard also requires numerous interventions, so that the reception of visitors may be as warm and dignified as possible. All of this amounts to a total sum of nearly 1 million and 163 thousand euros, while according to the contract, the works are to be completed within a maximum of two years, and we will strive, as the economic operator told us, to complete them even sooner than that.

This is very good news for the citizens of Ferizaj, but also in general for art lovers, especially theatre enthusiasts.

I thank all of you for the commitment you are making, and we will remain close by, both with support and supervision.
