Prime Minister Kurti Meets Director Visar Morina

Pristina, 17 September, 2026

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Saranda Bogujevci, and the Director of the Kosovo Cinematography Center, Blerta Zeqiri, met with director Visar Morina on Tuesday.

Full statement by Prime Minister Kurti:

From Old Çikatovë in Drenas—where Serbian enemy forces killed several of his family members in April 1999—to Berlin, Germany, where he has become one of the finest directors not only in Kosovo today but across the entire Albanian nation.

On Sunday, I had the honor of presenting him with the Best Film award at PriFest for Shame and Money, and on Tuesday, together with the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Saranda Bogujevci, and the Director of the Kosovo Cinematography Center, Blerta Zeqiri, we welcomed director Visar Morina to the Prime Minister’s Office.

Through the camera’s breath upon Shaban’s sweaty neck and the luminous glow of Hatixhe’s troubled face—amidst a family portrayed exactly as families are in the real world—a powerful social drama unfolds; one that refuses to leave your mind, just as you cannot tear your eyes away from the screen during those two hours. If Ken Loach and Mike Leigh were to team up to shoot a contemporary film about the Albanian working-class poor in Kosovo, the result would be Visar Morina’s film Shame and Money.

Starting September 25, the film will be showing at CinePlexx. Definitely watch it.
