Pristina, 5 November, 2026
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, met with the Swiss Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairperson of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Ignazio Cassis, along with the delegation he led.
Prime Minister Kurti expressed his gratitude for Switzerland’s continuous support for the people and state of Kosovo, particularly regarding development and democratization. Meanwhile, he thanked him for extending the mandate of Swisscoy and increasing the ceiling for participation with soldiers within KFOR.
“Building upon the strong foundations of our connection with Switzerland—laid by the diaspora and Swiss hospitality during difficult times for the Albanians of Kosovo—we are developing and advancing our relations as a Republic. We are also expanding our cooperation; with the entry into force of the EFTA agreement last month, a new chapter in free trade has begun, covering not only goods but also services,” the Prime Minister stated. In addition to discussions on what further steps could be taken—both at the government-to-government and business-to-business levels—the meeting also addressed Switzerland’s importance in integration processes. Furthermore, the role of Mr. Cassis, in his capacity as chair, was highlighted regarding the implementation of consistent reporting standards within the OSCE, as well as the representation of the Republic of Kosovo within that organization.
Minister Cassis invited Prime Minister Kurti to the tenth summit of the European Political Community, to be held in Zurich next April, while Prime Minister Kurti noted that Minister Cassis would be welcome to visit the “Kosovo House” in Davos this coming January.
