The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, at the same time the next Chairman of the OSCE, Bujar Osmani, visited the Kosovo Academy for Public Security, in Vushtrri.
There, they visited the cadets of the 58th generation of the Kosovo Police and the Correctional Service, who are currently undergoing basic training at the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety. According to the Prime Minister, this visit is thanks to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, whose next leader is precisely Mr. Bujar Osmani, as well as thanks to the staff and young cadets.
“We visited three different classes, where cadets of both sexes and all communities learn together, exercise together, in order to serve all citizens together, regardless of ethnicity, religion, background or anything else at all”, it was declared Prime Minister Kurti.
The Prime Minister congratulated the cadets for their willingness to serve the citizens, as well as congratulated the Academy for the diversity of the cadets, among whom all the communities of Kosovo are represented. This was achieved through the program with the communities in cooperation with the OSCE Mission in Kosovo and the Inter-institutional Team established last year by the Government for the promotion of the employment of the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities.
The percentage of women who have applied to the Kosovo Police in recent years has increased up to 18%, meanwhile, in the current call so far over 180 citizens from non-majority communities have applied. This generation, i.e. the 58th generation, which started training in April of this year, has a total of 421 cadets, 1/5 of which are from non-majority communities.
Thanking Minister Osmani for the visit, he added that the rule of law, security, human rights and democracy are the values that unite the Republic of Kosovo and the OSCE.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani, said that his visit to Kosovo in the capacity of the next chairman of the OSCE to mark successful products of cooperation between the OSCE and the Government of Kosovo , it is precisely this Academy for Public Security, which fulfills all the objectives of the OSCE.
In this visit, in addition to Prime Minister Kurti and Minister Osmani, the Deputy Minister of the Interior, Blerim Gashani, the Ambassador of North Macedonia in our country, Shpresa Jusufi, as well as the OSCE Ambassador to Kosovo, Michael Davenport, were also present.
