Prishtina, 25 October, 2024

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku and together with the Ambassador of France in Kosovo, Olivier Guérot, participated in the launch ceremony of the GENESIS project, a collaboration between the Anibar Festival and the Institute French in Kosovo supported by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France.

Describing this as an initiative that helps the youth of Kosovo to develop their skills in the creative industry, the Prime Minister said that it also strengthens our cooperation with France, a partner and friend country, especially with the Ministry for Europe and Labor Foreign as well as with the French Institute in Kosovo.

In his speech, the Prime Minister said that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo remains committed to building capacities and supporting independent art in our country, mentioning here concrete measures, such as the approval of the new Law on Culture and the increase in the budget for the stage independent from one million euros as it was in 2019, to nine million euros now that we are talking.

The GENESIS project, with its focus on educating and empowering young people, is clear evidence that our culture is moving towards both independence and innovation. This project further strengthens the connection with the independent scene and international partners, such as France, creating new bridges of interaction and also bringing valuable experiences to our youth.

At the end of the speech, the Prime Minister promised that the Government will continue the work for the sustainable development of this sector, as an important part of the cultural and economic growth of our country, while he emphasized the fact that six ministries have joined together to draft the economy strategy Creative, through which the creative potential of individuals and cultural industries will be increased, designing actions that transform our country.

Prime Minister Kurti’s complete speech:

Honorable Vullnet Sanaja, Executive Director of Anibar,
Honorable Hajrulla Çeku, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports,
Honorable Olivier Guérot, Ambassador of France in Kosovo,
Dear attendees,
ladies and gentlemen,

It is a special pleasure to be with you here today to mark the launch of the GENESIS project. An initiative which helps the youth of Kosovo to develop their skills in the creative industry. It also strengthens our cooperation with France, a partner and friend country, especially with the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs as well as with the French Institute in Kosovo.

The stage of cultural development that Kosovo is in requires more and more such events and collaborations. Our networking is now not only a desire, but also energy and plans through which we show the world that we are not only collaborators, but also worthy contributors to our international friendships.

Anibar, as part of this ecosystem, is one of these contributors. His team is constantly engaged at home and abroad, using all the infrastructural and human resources at his disposal. This is evident not only through the Anibar Festival, but also through the activities throughout the year. They continue to develop culture in Kosovo, as an economic and social factor that increases the well-being of citizens, which is not only material, but also emotional, spiritual, intellectual and so on.

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo remains committed to building capacities and supporting independent art in our country. This is through concrete measures, such as the approval of the new Law on Culture and the increase of the budget for the independent scene from one million euros in 2019, to nine million euros as I speak. So for five years we have nine times the budget from one million to nine million for the independent cultural-artistic scene. We are happy that Anibari is one of the first organizations that enjoys institutional support for organizational development with a duration of three years, an instrument that is being implemented for the first time by our government. We remain steadfast and fully dedicated to creating a strong foundation for the further growth of the cultural and creative sector.

The GENESIS project, with its focus on educating and empowering young people, is clear evidence that our culture is moving towards both independence and innovation. This project further strengthens the connection with the independent scene and international partners, such as France, creating new bridges of interaction and also bringing valuable experiences to our youth.

The government will continue the work for the sustainable development of this sector, as an important part of the cultural and economic growth of our country. Finally, six ministries of our Government have come together to draft the Creative Economy strategy. With it, we will increase the creative potential of individuals and cultural industries, designing actions that transform our country institutionally and for the better. On this occasion, we want to achieve the common goal, the creation of our country in a regional center of innovation and cultural production. Although we may not look big I believe that together we can do very big things and GENESIS is just the beginning of what can be achieved when we invest in the talents of the future.

In particular, I thank Vullnet Sanaja for his tireless commitment and for this inexhaustible kindness that he has in the work he does with such passion, that even I say not Vullnet Sanaja, but Sefaja (pleasure).

Thank you.
