In the Government Building, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, welcomed in a joint meeting representatives of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG), the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the Olympic Committee of Kosovo and the Municipality of Pristina, as well as representatives of the Albanian National Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Education and Sports of Albania. The central topic of the discussion was the preparations and next steps for the organization of the 2030 Mediterranean Games.
In this meeting, the news was announced about the finalization of the Draft Law for the organization of the 2030 Mediterranean Games, which will be processed for voting at the next meeting of the Government.
According to this draft law, the Organizing Committee will lead the largest sports project in the history of the Republic of Kosovo. It will consist of government ministers, representatives of the Assembly of the Republic, the Olympic Committee of Kosovo and the Municipality of Prishtina, under the leadership of the Prime Minister in the capacity of the chairman of the Executive Board of the Organizing Committee for the Mediterranean Games, Prishtina 2030.
Prime Minister Kurti and the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Daulina Osmani, thanked the General Secretary of the ICMG, Iakovos Filippousis, for the continuous support, as well as the Olympic Committee of Kosovo and the Municipality of Pristina for the contribution and dedication shown.
The Prishtina 2030 Mediterranean Games will be the biggest sports event in the country’s history, which through investments will directly contribute to the improvement and advancement of sports infrastructure, and through hospitality to the international representation and promotion of our republic.
The 2030 Mediterranean Games will be spread over several municipalities of our country and in the city of Durrës in the Republic of Albania.
