Prime Minister Kurti’s address at the 145th meeting of the Government

June 7, 2023

Prishtina, 7 June, 2023

Dear Deputy Prime Minister, Ministers and Deputy Ministers,
Dear citizens,

Today is the 145th meeting of our Government. For treatment, we have one of the most important draft laws which enables us to realize the largest economic project that our country has undertaken, the Sovereign Fund.

As of 2017, it has been more than 6 years since the first time as a SELF-DETERMINATION Movement! we had presented the idea and project of the Sovereign Fund. From then on, it was a central part of our electoral and governing programs, including the Kurti 1 Government program.

From idea to concept. From commitment, to project. The Sovereign Fund is being made.
170 countries of the world, out of about 200 in total, have sovereign funds. The highest trend of the formation of sovereign funds was recorded in the early 2000s.

Our public enterprises, along with 24,000 other assets, will be transferred from the government to the Fund. This will increase the possibility of investments and improve their management even more. Thus, we are making the Government smaller but the state stronger and richer. The Sovereign Fund will put us on the map of the world financial markets. It will be the core of our economic sovereignty.

A week from today, it will be the ninth joint meeting of our Government and the Government of the Republic of Albania. The third in less than two years. In the meetings so far, we have signed 41 bilateral, inter-ministerial and inter-institutional agreements. 39 of them have been fully implemented, the other two are in the final stage of implementation.

Considering the positive and direct impact that the agreements so far have had on the lives of our citizens, businesses and societies, as well as the high degree of their implementation, in the next meeting we will sign several more in the field of justice, education, health, agriculture and defense.

Among them that is worth mentioning is the mutual recognition of practicing the profession of lawyer and mediator in Dispute Resolution. Through it, it will be possible to exercise these professions under the same conditions in both countries, guaranteeing the best interest of the citizens themselves.

In this meeting, the agreement will be proposed to facilitate the control procedures of products of non-animal origin so that the import, transit and export of food of non-animal origin can be carried out at the Border Inspection Point or at the nearest customs of the country of the destination. As well as reaching an agreement that through scholarships will promote the mobility of students in our two countries.

The joint meetings of the two governments do not bring us together for just one day, they bring us closer and closer as a society, as a people. This time Gjakova will join us. And the agreements we will sign will bring us even closer.

Thank you.
