The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, hosted the Qatari Minister for Social Development and Family, Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad.
He expressed his honor with the visit that Minister Al Misnad is making to our country, while expressing his gratitude for Qatar’s support and contribution to Kosovo, both in its membership in international organizations and through other cooperation programs in the country .
During the meeting, the friendly relations between Kosovo and Qatar were evaluated, and there was talk about the increase of cooperation between the two countries in the economic, commercial and institutional level.
A special emphasis in the meeting was given to social welfare programs. Prime Minister Kurti informed Minister Al Misnad about the social assistance system in Kosovo, as he mentioned the piloting of the reform of the social assistance scheme which started this weekend and the lessons of which will be reflected in the new draft law on social protection.
As part of the support measures, the prime minister singled out the allowances for over 55,000 pregnant women and over 400,000 children, which prove the improvement of the economic situation and the strengthening of the financial position of women in Kosovo. As a result of these additions, about 100,000 women in Kosovo have opened bank accounts for the first time.
In the framework of future cooperation, mutual interest was expressed in the field of digitization of services and social support system.
