The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Elina Valtonen, in a bilateral meeting, which took place in the Government building.
The discussion during the meeting, on the one hand, focused on bilateral relations, which are based on shared values and beliefs, cooperation in the field of economy and trade exchanges after the establishment of the Kosovo-Finland Chamber of Commerce in 2023 and the Nordic Chamber of Commerce in 2023, meanwhile, on the other hand, in regional developments and on the continent, the need for a more powerful EU and NATO in light of the invasion and military aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude and that of the State of Kosovo for Finland’s continuous support, including support in the process of membership in the Council of Europe and European integration, the contribution to security and the rule of law through participation in the NATO mission, KFOR and the EU mission, EULEX, as well as in social and economic development in the country through its development agency, FINNIDA.
“It is a great honor and pleasure to welcome you today in Pristina, in the Republic of Kosovo, which has excellent relations with your country. We highly appreciate your visit and look forward to expanding cooperation in the existing fields but also in new”, said the Prime Minister.
He congratulated Minister Valtonen, the state of Finland and the Finnish people for joining NATO in April of last year, stressing that membership in this organization and the North Atlantic alliance is also the goal of the Republic of Kosovo, as Finland is bordered by a autocratic and aggressive neighbor that threatens regional peace and security.
Prime Minister Kurti and Minister Valtonen also talked about our diaspora in Finland and the potential it has to play an even greater role in strengthening the ties between our countries.
