Prime Minister Kurti welcomed the Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs of the US State Department, O’Brien

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, welcomed today on his first visit to Kosovo in the position of Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs of the US Department of State, James C. O’Brien.

This meeting took place a little less than a month after the last meeting they had in New York within the High Level Week of the United Nations General Assembly. During the conversation, the Prime Minister discussed the bilateral relations and the areas in which the close relations between our two countries can be further deepened. Prime Minister Kurti expressed his and the Government’s gratitude for the historical role and continuous support of the United States of America to the Republic of Kosovo and its people, and for the close cooperation in the field of energy, economy, finance and security and defense.
A week after the Berlin Process Summit, the commitment, agreement signed and declarations adopted that made the 10th anniversary of the Berlin Process a successful anniversary in advancing and fostering regional cooperation towards European integration were appreciated.

In this meeting, relations with Serbia, the dialogue process facilitated by the European Union and the implementation of the Basic Agreement and its Annex were discussed.

The signing of the Basic Agreement is the necessary evidence of good will and good faith on the part of Serbia for the prompt fulfillment and full compliance with it and the implementing Annex. Also, for legality and justice, peace and security, the surrender of the chief terrorist Milan Radoicic and his paramilitary group is needed.

Prime Minister Kurti was accompanied at the meeting by the first deputy prime minister, Besnik Bislimi. Meanwhile, alongside Assistant Secretary O’Brien was the ambassador of the United States of America, Jeffrey Hovenier.
