The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, welcomed professors Susan Morgan and Andy Hamilton from Ulster University together with Adrian Davies and Dorina Gllogjani from the non-governmental youth organization YMCA in Kosovo.
He welcomed the guests from Northern Ireland to Kosovo, as he recalled the meeting he had with Prof. Morgan during his visit to Belfast in February. During that visit, the Prime Minister had the opportunity to, among other things, learn more about the University of Ulster’s initiatives for engaging marginalized groups.
In this regard, the prime minister informed them about the actions and initiatives of the government for the advancement of education among non-majority communities, highlighting here the scholarships for the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities, and the financing of the IBCM college in Mitrovica as the first public college in Kosovo with 27% of students from non-majority communities.
Along with the Prime Minister was also Dr. Edona Maloku from Queen’s University Belfast who leads the initiative for Dual Education in Kosovo according to the model of Northern Ireland. A team of experts from Northern Ireland were recently in Kosovo, namely in the Municipality of Kamenica, where they held a workshop with the school communities of this municipality to explore the potential of cooperation of separate educational systems.
