In the Vatican, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Representative of the Republic of Kosovo for the Holy See, Vehbi Miftari and the Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Rozeta Hajdari, also met with the Secretary of State of the Holy See, Cardinal Pietro Paroli.
He informed him about Kosovo’s successes and progress in Kosovo, especially in the last two years, as well as its Euro-Atlantic orientation and unwavering commitment to democratic values.
The meeting discussed the historical relations with the Vatican and the history of relations between Kosovo and the Vatican. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of advancing diplomatic relations between the two states and the positive role that recognition by the Vatican would have for the state, society and people of Kosovo, for the region and for sustainable peace.
Prime Minister Kurti and the Secretary of State, Cardinal Paroli, also spoke about the dialogue process mediated by the European Union and about the latest developments within it. The Prime Minister said that the solution and the way forward is the full, quick and unconditional implementation of the Basic Agreement of February 27 and its Annex agreed on March 18 in Ohrid, North Macedonia. He added that Kosovo has consistently proven to be a constructive party throughout the process and during the stages of negotiating agreements.
After this meeting, Prime Minister Kurti has completed his stay in Italy and his official visit to the Vatican. From there he traveled to Brussels to participate in the meeting called by the High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security of the EU, Josep Borrell.
