In Skopje, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, was welcomed by the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski, in the first working visit and the first bilateral meeting between them.
The working visit first started with a tête-à-tête meeting to then continue with the bilateral meeting between the two delegations. The delegation of the Republic of Kosovo consisted of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz, the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, the Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, Liburn Aliu and the Ambassador of Kosovo in North Macedonia, Florian Qehaja.
Together they discussed relations, cooperation and bilateral issues, from commercial and economic ones, the rule of law, and infrastructure projects, with an emphasis on the Prizren-Tetovo road, to the incident with the President of the country, Vjosa Osmani Sadriu at the Skopje airport. Regarding the latter, the delegation of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo expressed the concern of the country’s institutions and the need for a full investigation to clarify the truth in full and detail and to ensure that such situations are not repeated.
The Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of North Macedonia have good bilateral relations, based on shared values and a clear transatlantic orientation and common journey towards the European Union. The two delegations discussed the possibilities to deepen the existing relations both at the interstate level, through a next meeting of the two governments, and also in the regional cooperation within the Berlin Process.
As a NATO member country, Prime Minister Kurti expressed gratitude for North Macedonia’s contribution to maintaining peace and security through the military contingent within KFOR.
Prime Minister Kurti thanked his counterpart for the reception and commitment to advance bilateral relations and to contribute to even greater regional cooperation.
The delegation of North Macedonia, along with Prime Minister Mickoski, consisted of the first deputy prime minister, at the same time the minister of the environment, Izet Mexhiti, the deputy prime minister for good governance and transparency, Arben Fetai, the minister of foreign affairs and foreign trade, Timco Mucunski, the minister Economy, Besar Durmishi, Minister of Justice, Igor Filkov and Deputy Minister of Sports, Safije Sadiku Shaini.
