Today’s bilateral meetings in Switzerland of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, started with the exchange and conversation with the Federal Counselor of Switzerland and the Head of the Department for Economic Affairs, Education and Research, Guy Parmelin.
Kosovo and Switzerland have excellent relations, with our diaspora as a connecting bridge and an important factor of close cooperation between our two countries.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for Switzerland’s continuous support and emphasized the importance of further deepening our relations.
He added that our economic and trade cooperation is increasing every year, while the total level of foreign direct investments from Switzerland to Kosovo in the last four years has increased by about 170%.
Meanwhile, he also underlined the increase in exports from Kosovo to Switzerland, where in the same period of time, exports have almost doubled and include a variety of products such as metals, mineral products, food, plastic, rubber, machinery, equipment, electrical materials and textiles. Switzerland is now the fifth largest destination for Kosovo’s goods.
In the meeting, the fact that Kosovo has reached Free Trade Agreements with the EFTA member countries, of which Switzerland is also a part, was emphasized. Kosovo is the only country in the region that, in addition to negotiating trade in goods, has also negotiated trade in services with the EFTA countries, thus increasing the corpus of opportunities for exchanges and cooperation.
